Hook options

Pick the one you'll use — the script opener updates to match

Before / after

Raw 90-minute episode in. Captioned vertical clip out. Timer running.

Specific number

It used to take me three and a half hours. Watch this.

Contrarian

You don't need a video editor. You need the checklist automated.

Direct question

How long should it take to clip one podcast episode?

Vulnerable confession

I built this because I could not keep doing it by hand.

Script

Opener (0:00 – 0:10)

Raw 90-minute episode goes in on the left. Captioned vertical clip comes out on the right. Timer in the corner is running the whole way — no cuts, no cheats.

Body

I upload the file. Reelhand starts scanning — it is looking for moments where the energy shifts, where a claim lands, where someone laughs. That is the diarization pipeline. Now it drafts hook lines for each moment — a claim, a contradiction, or a number. Never just the first thing the guest said. I pick one clip. Captions are already burned in, styled, timed to the syllable. Vertical crop is done. Look at the timer. That is the whole job. The thing that used to eat my Saturday.

Close / CTA

If you run an interview show and you want this on your next episode, DM me the word CLIP and I will send you the trial link and the tier that fits your setup.

Production paths

  1. 1.Pick one real episode from your test account — ideally a 60-90 minute interview so the elapsed time lands with weight
  2. 2.Open QuickTime (Mac) or the built-in screen recorder (Windows) and set capture to your browser window at 1080x1920 vertical crop, OR record full-screen and crop in CapCut later
  3. 3.Before hitting record, place a stopwatch overlay in the top-right corner — use the free 'Online Stopwatch' browser extension or start iPhone stopwatch and film it in-frame later as PIP
  4. 4.Start recording. Upload the episode file to Reelhand. Do NOT edit out the processing wait — instead, plan to speed-ramp that section 4x-8x in post while keeping the timer visible so the compression is honest
  5. 5.Walk through: file upload, moment detection running, hook line drafts appearing, selecting one clip, showing the finished captioned vertical output. Total captured length: aim for 3-5 minutes raw
  6. 6.Stop recording. Import into CapCut mobile or desktop
  7. 7.Cut to the beats in the script.body — upload, scanning, hook drafts, clip selection, final output. Speed-ramp processing waits. Keep total edited length under 40 seconds
  8. 8.Record voiceover in CapCut using the full_text script — talk over the screen recording, do not do talking-head
  9. 9.Add the on-screen hook text (from hook_options[0].hook) at 0:00, big and centered, first 2 seconds
  10. 10.Export 1080x1920, 30fps

Clipping one 90-minute episode by hand used to take me three and a half hours — sourcing moments, trimming handles, exporting aspect ratios, writing caption hooks. I did that job maybe 400 times before I realized every step of it was a checklist. So I automated the checklist. Timer in the corner is real, no cuts. DM me the word CLIP and I'll send you the trial link plus the tier that fits your show.

Thumbnail prompt

Paste this into an AI image generator (Midjourney, Ideogram, or ChatGPT) to create your thumbnail.

9:16 vertical thumbnail, split-screen composition. Left half: a dark timeline waveform of a long podcast episode, muted grey-blue. Right half: a bright, sharp vertical clip preview with bold burned-in caption text visible. Top-right corner: a large digital stopwatch overlay showing a running time, high-contrast white on black. Bold sans-serif headline text across the middle: 'RAW IN. CLIP OUT.' Minimal, high-contrast, editorial tech aesthetic. No faces. 9:16 aspect ratio.

Scheduling

Tool: Buffer

  1. 1.Log in to Buffer and confirm your TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube channels are all connected under one workspace
  2. 2.Click 'New Post' and select all three channels at once so you can tailor per platform from one draft
  3. 3.Upload the exported 1080x1920 .mp4
  4. 4.Paste the TikTok caption for the TikTok tab, the Instagram Reels caption for the IG tab, the YouTube Shorts caption for the YT tab — do not let Buffer cross-post the same caption
  5. 5.For Instagram, make sure the 'Share as Reel' toggle is on, not feed post
  6. 6.For YouTube, set it to publish as a Short (Buffer detects vertical automatically, but confirm)
  7. 7.Set the schedule to Saturday 7:00 PM PT
  8. 8.Add a first comment on TikTok and Instagram (Buffer supports this): 'DM the word CLIP for the trial link.'
  9. 9.Save and confirm all three appear in your Buffer queue at the correct time

Lead capture

Where this should drive

The DM inbox on TikTok and Instagram is the destination. When someone sends the keyword CLIP, you (or a ManyChat-style automation if you set one up later) reply with a two-line message: the Beacons link to the Reelhand trial signup, and a one-line qualifier asking whether they're a solo host or a multi-host show so you can point them at Indie ($39) vs Studio ($129). YouTube Shorts routes to the same flow via the pinned comment directing viewers to comment CLIP, which you monitor and reply to with the same link. Every CLIP DM is a purchase-intent lead — tag them in Kit as 'dm-clip-inbound' when they sign up so you can see conversion rate per piece over the 90 days.

Set up with Beacons + Instagram/TikTok DM (manual for now)

  1. 1.In Beacons, create a dedicated button titled 'Try Reelhand — 7-day trial' that links to your Reelhand trial signup page. This is the URL you send in DMs.
  2. 2.Draft a saved reply in the Instagram app: Settings → Business tools → Saved replies → New. Shortcut: 'clip'. Message: 'Here's the trial link: [Beacons URL]. Quick q so I send you the right thing — are you solo hosting or is your show multi-host / with a producer? Indie tier is $39, Studio is $129, both include the full clip flow you just watched.'
  3. 3.Do the same in TikTok: Inbox → the gear icon → Quick replies → Add. Same message.
  4. 4.Pin a comment on the YouTube Short: 'Comment CLIP and I'll drop the trial link in reply.' Check the comments daily and reply with the Beacons URL.
  5. 5.In Kit, create a tag called 'dm-clip-inbound' and a segment for it — apply the tag manually when a DM lead signs up for the trial so you can measure this piece's conversion over the 90-day window.
